Human Resources Managers and Directors

Human Resources is the core of any organization and requires exceptionally qualified Managers and Directors who will establish goals, attract and maintain employees, effectively manage, and will successfully communicate with all levels within a company.

A Human Resources Manager and Director can be required, but not limited to, establishing and maintaining payroll, administering compensation and benefit plans to increase retention, managing recruitment and new hire orientation, assessing processes to improve overall organizational performance, and processing changes in HRIS. An HR Manager or Director can represent an organization at the Department of Labor as necessary and will maintain compliance with federal, state and local law. Managers of Human Resources and Directors of Human Resources can also be responsible for managing and training employees on a variety of subjects including benefits-related issues, employee relations issues, sexual harassment issues, conflict management, FMLA, disability, and manage accrued sick time. HR management will also include handling workers compensation claims, maintaining safety awareness to ensure OSHA compliance, and negotiating union contracts.

Depending on the size of a company, an HR Manager’s or Director’s responsibilities will vary. In a larger company, a Director of Human Resources can supervise multiple departments. Each department is then run by a Manager of Human Resources who most often specialize in a specific division of HR, such as compensation and benefits, labor relations, training and development, or employment. In smaller companies, an HR Manager and HR Director might be required to assist with managing and being directly responsible for many facets of Human Resources.
